Quick Answer
Hakari is a B-Tier Epic (~5% per roll) fighting style built around its signature perk Momentum Rush — after landing a full M1 combo, your M2 deals 3x damage for 7 seconds. The powerful ragdoll M2s and the burst window make it a high-skill, high-reward pick, but it requires you to consistently land the entire M1 chain. It is best played tall (183cm+) so the extra reach keeps chains connecting.

Core combo strings and Momentum Rush activation formulas:
Core Hakari Combos Breakdown
- Bread & Butter: M1 x4 (full chain) → M2 (Momentum Rush 3x damage) → Dash reset. The 7-second burst window is your primary win condition.
- Burst Punish: Perfect Block → M1 x4 → M2. The ragdoll M2 launches opponents, then dash in to re-open pressure while the buff is live.
- Counter Strategy: Interrupt the M1 chain early. Hakari with no Momentum Rush is a standard-pressure style — never let them complete the full chain for free.

ANIMATION REFERENCE
Hakari is all-or-nothing: Momentum Rush only triggers after a full M1 combo lands, so dropping the chain costs you the entire perk — which is why a 3x M2 still lands the style in B-tier. That makes the M1 string the one thing worth studying closely. The official frame captures sit on the official Gakuran Trello board, which is also where the perk cards below come from. Official Trello Perks
Momentum Rush
After a full M1 combo, your M2 deals 3x damage for 7 seconds. This is the entire identity of the style — a correctly timed burst window out-damages nearly everything else in the game.
Powerful (M2)
Hakari M2s are ragdoll attacks with bonus damage. When Momentum Rush is active, the same M2 becomes a 3x one-shot threat that also ragdolls on hit.
Guard Pierce II
15% block chip damage. Moderate block pressure — not a turtle-breaker on its own, but chip adds up inside a long momentum window.

How Hakari Fits into the Meta
Strengths
- Highest burst potential: 3x M2 damage after a full chain beats most one-shot tools in the game.
- Ragdoll M2s: launch opponents even without the buff, giving you space and pressure resets.
- Easy to obtain: Epic pool (~5% per roll) is realistic to chase, unlike 1% Legendaries.
Weaknesses
- All-or-nothing: without the full M1 chain, Momentum Rush never activates and you are a normal-pressure style.
- Chain-dependent: opponents who block or interrupt the opener deny your entire win condition.
- No Resilience: Hakari has no grapple stat, so Wrestling/Muay Thai can win same-time clashes.
Best Build for Hakari
| Stat | Recommendation | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Height | Tall (183cm+) | Extra reach keeps the full M1 chain connecting so Momentum Rush activates consistently. |
| Ethnicity | African (tallest range) | Sweeps to the tall height range and maximizes M1 confirmation range. |
| Playstyle | Chain-first burst | Confirm the M1 chain, then convert the 7-second Momentum Rush window into a kill. |
Hakari vs Other Top Styles
| Style | Hakari Advantage | Hakari Disadvantage |
|---|---|---|
| Boxing | 3x M2 burst out-damages Boxing's chip pressure | Boxing's i-frame M2s interrupt your chain before the buff |
| Wrestling | Momentum Rush windows can out-trade slow grabs | Wrestling 55% Resilience wins every grapple clash |
| Capoeira | 3x burst punishes Capoeira's spacing resets | Ginga's 25% shorter dash cooldown lets Capoeira escape your chain |
How to Counter Hakari
Core counter playbooks and spacing strategies against Hakari players:
- Interrupt the M1 chain early — blocking the opener or trading into it denies the entire buff.
- Bait the post-buff M2, then punish the whiff — a failed momentum window is very punishable.
- Force whiffs at mid-range so Hakari can never start a clean chain.
