Volleyball Minigame Controls & Strategy
1. Serve & Underhand Bump (Left Click)
Position your avatar under the falling ball marker. Tap Left Click to perform a standard pass or underhand bump toward your teammate.
2. Power Spike (Space + Left Click)
Time your jump at the apex of the set ball and click to spike downward. Direct the spike away from opposing players to score clean points.
3. Dive Save (Shift / Dash + Click)
If the ball lands far from your position, execute a directional dash and click to perform a sliding recovery save before the ball hits the sand.

How to Actually Win at Volleyball
The minigame looks like a reflex test and behaves like a positioning game. Three habits separate players who score consistently from players who trade lucky spikes:
Stand where the marker lands, not where the ball is
The falling-ball marker tells you the destination in advance. Players who chase the ball itself arrive late; players who move to the marker and wait are already set when it drops. This is the single biggest difference between a beginner and a competent player.
Spend stamina on saves, not on spikes
A spike is a scoring attempt; a dive save is a point prevented. Because the stamina bar is shared, spamming dashes to reach balls you were never going to get leaves you unable to save the ones you could. Let the lost point go and keep the stamina.
Aim the spike away from the nearest opponent
A spike is not automatically a point — it is a point when it lands where nobody is standing. Before you jump, glance at where the opposing players are positioned and send the ball to the gap rather than straight down.
Why Volleyball Plays Differently From Other Activities
Most of Gakuran's activities are parallel — a chess game, a rhythm instrument or a basketball shot does not depend on anyone else doing their part well. Volleyball does, which makes it the one activity where team composition and communication matter as much as individual timing.
- It is the most competitive minigame. Two players who understand positioning will beat two players with better reflexes but no spacing discipline.
- It rewards a dedicated partner. Since saves require knowing where your teammate will be, a regular partner outperforms a random pairing almost immediately.
- It scales with the map, not your build. Height and clan buffs do not decide the match; the frame you bring is mostly a cosmetic choice here.
- It is a legitimate break from PvP. The court sits in a combat-permitted outdoor zone, but the match itself has no combat interaction, which makes it the cleanest way to take a break without leaving the map.

What the Rooftop Paths Are Actually Good For
The expansion's rooftop route is often described as a shortcut, but its value is not raw travel time — it is that the route sits outside the busiest combat corridors. Practically:
- Use it to move between the commercial district buildings without crossing open ground where fights concentrate.
- It works as a disengage route when a scrap is going badly, since pursuit has to follow the same linear path rather than cutting across.
- It is a poor ambush spot. Sight lines are narrow and the path is predictable, so anyone waiting for you has already been seen from below.
- It is not a safe zone. Rooftops are outdoors, so combat stance works there exactly as it does on the street.
